- kein = not a / no / not any. Use it before a noun that would have ein or no article: Ich habe kein Auto. It takes the same endings as ein.
- nicht negates verbs, adjectives, adverbs, names and nouns with der/die/das: Ich komme nicht. Das ist nicht mein Hund.
nicht usually goes at the end, or before the word it negates: Das ist nicht teuer.
